About Us

EMPOWER is a not-for-profit that subscribes to a high standard of accountability and stewardship.
Empower Australia Overseas Aid Fund Inc. (EMPOWER) exists to equip, educate and empower those suffering sickness, poverty, destitution and misfortune through sustainable community transformation projects in developing countries.

Our mission is to generate sustainable community transformation solutions that provide relief of poverty, exploitation, sickness, destitution, suffering and misfortune in developing countries.

To see global inequality and suffering overcome by equipping, educating and empowering under-privileged communities and people groups.

We are Trustworthy
The EMPOWER commitment to our supporting partners is to be transparent, responsive, caring, sincere and trustworthy.
All completed and ongoing projects are testimony to the fact that EMPOWER strives to be excellent stewards of the gifts that are entrusted to us. As part of our transparency, we invite you to come and visit these projects and personally see the impact amongst our target communities.
We are Indigenous
EMPOWER partners are indigenous, experienced leaders who undergo rigorous training. All staff in the field are indigenous so speak the local language and understand the culture of the communities that are being impacted. Skills are taught to people within a community so that projects are able to be managed and maintained from within.
We are Sustainable
We seek to improve the well-being, hygiene and health of individuals and to generate sustained positive change in the communities at large.
Our activities are open to all community members without discrimination. We are committed to activities which have a medium to long term sustainability and which ultimately become self-supporting from within the impacted community.
We are Intentional
Our strategy, goals, actions and outcomes are calculated, deliberate and totally purposeful in nature and implementation. There is a plan to each project that is adhered to throughout the project.
We are Responsible
EMPOWER regards responsibility as the obligation or duty to act. Being accountable, we acknowledge and accept the choices we have made, the actions we have taken, and the results they have led to.
At EMPOWER we believe that true autonomy leads to both having responsibility and taking responsibility. It is an essential element of integrity, a key EMPOWER value and the congruence of what we think, what we say, and what we do.
We regard responsibility as essential for reciprocity, trust, and for maintaining effective relationships.
EMPOWER partners exclusively with trusted indigenous organisations who have an excellent track record and who are willing to embrace our primary participation criteria. Each local supplier undergoes a project appraisal prior to commitment, project monitoring at pre agreed intervals and project evaluation upon completion.
We have embraced a formal Child Protection/Trafficking policy and are committed to encouraging community participation in all projects and causes.
