OUR CURRENT PROJECTS
Our projects are sustainable community transformation solutions that provide relief of poverty, exploitation, sickness, destitution, suffering and misfortune in certified developing countries.
In India 636 million people still have no access to toilets. Open defecation is part of everyday life. The Indian government has invited us to be part of the solution. We are installing 1000 community public toilets to provide safe and hygienic sanitation for thousands of people.
The people of India are facing a water crisis due to climatic factors and lack of safe drinking water. We need your help to install 125 deep core bore wells in communities across North India, enabling families and individuals to access potable water without fear of discrimination.
Education is central to genuine community transformation, to dispelling superstition and eradicating endemic poverty. We are excited to invite you to partner with starting four new village schools that will change the lives of children, their families and communities.
Of Delhi’s street children 79.5% are boys. Whether abandoned, trafficked, lost or runaways, the immediate survival and future thriving of street children is dependent on finding a safe house and a loving family. The Delhi Boys Safe House is soon to open!
Empower Australia Overseas Aid Fund (EMPOWER) exists to equip, educate and empower those suffering sickness, poverty, destitution and misfortune through sustainable community transformation projects in developing countries.
PARTNERSHIP IN ACTION
Girls Safe House
There are more than 100,000 street children in Delhi. A survey that we conducted exposed the vulnerability and tragic living conditions of thousands of children who call the city’s streets home. The Child Welfare Committee of Delhi asked EMPOWER to start a Safe House for girls currently living on the streets. They are directly involved in identifying and sending the children to our Street Children Safe House.
Nepal was devastated by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake on 25 April 2015. More than 8,800 people died and more than 23,000 were injured. Hundreds of thousands of people were made homeless with entire villages flattened. On 12 May a major aftershock – 7.3 magnitude, killed more than 200 people and injured more than 2,500. Food, clothing, safe water and housing for Nepali people who had lost everything was in desperate need. The monsoon season then winter snows were about to begin.
